Boomer Watch: Long-Term Care and the Highest Prevalence of Obesity Among Baby Boomers


The latest report from the US Census Bureau revealed that the vast majority of baby boomers are obese. The figures showed that 72 percent of older men and 67 percent of older women are obese, these baby boomers have the highest prevalence of obesity compared to their parent generation.



As this figure continues to climb, baby boomers need to understand that being seriously overweight or obese have harmful effects. It can possibly contribute to poor health, increase your risk of disease and may lead to other health problems such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, these conditions may warrant the need for long-term care which also poses a big risk to your finances.

Lifestyle plays a major role in this trend among baby boomers, lack of diet and physical activities have dramatically increase the incidents of obesity among boomers. US health care spending will be higher unless these boomers act now and get physically active.
